Mary Anne Mercer Elected to the PMNCH Board of Directors
We are pleased to announce the election of our very own Mary Anne Mercer to the board of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH). The PMNCH is a branch of the World Health Organization that strives to meet millennium development goals 4 and 5 which aim to improve maternal health and reduce mortality rates for children under five by 2015. The PMNCH supports projects that often require a partnership between organizations for success. This "partner-centric" model is key to their efforts and is also very much in line with the HAI approach for health systems strengthening.
In addition to her positions as Deputy Director of HAI and Director of our Timor Program, Dr. Mercer also teaches at the University of Washington in the Masters in Public Health program.
She will be serving as the NGO representative to the PMNCH board and we are confident that she will be able to offer great leadership and guidance in this new role. Congratulations Dr. Mercer!
