Mobile Moms/Liga Inan is an innovative mHealth project in Timor-Leste funded by USAID's Child Survival and Health Grants Program. This project will begin enrolling pregnant women in January 2013, sending health-related SMS messages to their phones throughout their pregnancy and 6 weeks post-partum, also allowing both the women and their midwives to use the system for tailored messages. The project will also work to increase the capacity of midwives to provide Basic Emergency Obstetric Care and utilize community health workers to improve knowledge of healthy behaviors in the community.
Marisa Harrison, the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager for Health Alliance International in Timor-Leste, will be presenting the research and steps that have led to the development of this project, and Anders Hofstee, Executive Director for Catalpa International, will share the reporting dashboard that has been developed to allow district-level health staff to monitor enrollment and interactions between district health staff and women
