Timor-Leste – Reproductive and Child Health
In a country with some of the highest fertility rates and maternal mortality rates in the world, our program in Timor-Leste supports the Ministry of Health in improving the health of mothers and children. We work in six districts the rural central part of the country, and the Ministry of Health adopts and rolls out successful policies and practices nation-wide.*

*In 2003, the Timorese government conducted a national Demographic and Health Survey (DHS), which provides the baseline data for measuring progress on maternal and child health-related indicators. The statistics above reflect the changes in the six program districts where we work, as measured in 2008 (unless otherwise noted). Another DHS is planned for 2010.
